Four Five Hundred
Dollar ($500.00) Scholarships will be awarded at the January Banquet 2009 to
Students
who meet the Qualifications set forth by THE MON YOUGH FIRE DEFENSE COUNCIL. (Subject to change)
The School must be a Pennsylvania Institution.
1.
At the time of applying the student will be in their first year of
post high school education and would have graduated from high school in the
spring of 2008. This will include four-year colleges, two-year colleges,
community colleges and technical school or any type of post high school
study, which meets the approval of the Scholarship Committee.
2.
One parent or guardian (also junior fireman) must belong to a company
that is a member company in good standing in the MON YOUGH FIRE DEFENSE
COUNCIL.
3.
The student’s grade average must be 3.25 or better to apply and
must be signed by a parent or guardian and the high school councilor.
4.
A print out of grades from the school must be turned in at the time
of application.
5.
A written statement by the applicant explaining his/her desire for
the scholarship and financial need will be included.
6.
Applications will be sent with the October newsletter and
additional applications can be had by contacting a Mon Yough officer or
downloading at myfdc.org.
7.
Applications must be turned in by the November meeting.
8.
The scholarship committee will review all applications and a
registered letter or phone call will notify the students in late December.
9.
The students and their parents or guardian will attend the Banquet in
late January as guest of the Mon Yough Fire Defense
Council.
10.
The scholarship award will be paid to the school to be used for
tuition.
